For Breathe Easy, Alice Alexandrescu has left a series of handwritten notes to gallery goers reminding them to do a thing often thought of as simple, necessary and involuntary--yet has quickly become complicated by our present situation. By focusing our attention on our breath Alice asks us to reconnect with our bodies and to connect more deeply with the present. Situated in this exhibition, which draws heavy emphasis on the disconnection and literal dislocation of the body, Alice’s work serves as a counterpoint: a way back to ourselves and a way towards others.
