watercolor and graphite on paper
7 x 9 1/8 inches
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, The Lesley and Emma Sheafer collection, Bequest of Emma A. Sheafer, 1973
In a letter dated Nov. 9, 1998, Nancy Weekly responded to an inquiry from Lisa M. Messigner, Asst. Curator, Dept. of 20th Century Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art that this work was probably created around 1920. She thinks it is similar to works from that time by Georgia O'Keeffe and Arthur Dove. but it also has qualities that can be compared with December Tree, 1955, watercolor, 6 ½ x 8 ¾ in., now in the collection of the Burchfield Penney Art Center, Gift of the Estate of Phyllis M. Lutwack, 2018. (2018.017.003)
