27 x 10 x 10 inches
Collection of the Burchfield Penney Art Center, Gift of the artist, 2021
This sculpture was selected from the exhibition, Out of the WILD, curated by Véronique Côté for CEPA Gallery in Buffalo, NY and presented July 9-August 14, 2021. The artist made the following statement about her bird sculptures:
In my work the birds get their power from the objects of which they are made – objects once used by others every day. Butter knives, auto parts, candlesticks, and masonry tools – each retains a memory of the many hands that used them. When combined, these connections amplify, and the sculptures become capacitors of thought.
