The general composition of this study is similar to Burchfield's oil Lilacs, 1924-27, from the collection of the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington, Delaware. The crescent-shaped ponds and towering thunderclouds in the center distance are similar to Heat Lightning (also known as Landscape with Grey Clouds), 1962
