Inscribed in ink: “Hello Wie befinden Siesich?  We are having our mid-year exams now, but I’m exempt from all of them.  Last night the police made a raid on some speak-easies and overhauled 3 saloons. I guess we’re going to have an early spring. I was made King Arthur in our K.O.K.A. Club. Our High School has a basketball team, but the boys are not making much of a success. Well goodby [sic] Your Friend in Salem.”
