Mario Miller

Artist Statement: Mario is an avid illustrator and comic maker. Mario is interested in animation and has been spending his time in the youth arts program experimenting with different forms of the medium. For this project, he used an experimental style that involved creating abstract shapes and designs in Illustrator, then using Final Cut Pro to create layered animations. Mario was inspired by the geometry and color in LeRoi’s work and wanted to incorporate those elements into the work. He was also interested in the way the colors were applied to the body in the paintings. Using the animations, Mario projected his animations onto the hands of his classmates creating a real-life version of this colorful and patterned skin.
