Kendric Warrick

Artist Statement: A well-adapted fine arts maker, Kendric loves to stretch his abilities in a myriad of mediums and is frenetic in his approach to art making. Being a painter, Kendric found it hard to access LeRoi’s work because of how different they are stylistically. With a little time, Kendric found he wanted to create something that was wholly different but explored the nature of commonality he found in the work. Using found imagery from pop sci-fi movies Kendric created a series of collages that mimicked the layered meanings and bold colors of LeRoi’s work all while holding onto his own personality. These collages were then recaptured using a scanner that allowed him to manipulate the image at the time of capture and bring a visceral mark, a digitally created paint stroke to reference the source inspiration.
