"I tend to make paintings that weave together images from the past and present to comment on social issues, pop
culture, or current events. For Artists Among Us II, I wanted to make something that was relevant to the region. I
heard about how Niagara Falls was considering treating waste water from hydro-fracking and started doing some research. I was appalled by the devastation that fracking brings to its sites and couldn’t help connecting it to Love Canal. I took images from the past and present to comment on the issue of fracking. Color helps connect the pieces and adds an ominous tone to the piece." -Nicole Cowen
