watercolor on paper
"Seward Highway is a 125 mile two lane road that connects Anchorage with Seward Alaska. There are photo stops about every half mile both ways with stunning scenery of mountains, water ways, forests and misty, cloudy skies.
This painting is on Yupo paper, which was originally made for commercial printing but has become quite popular in the last 10 years. I love it's slick surface and the way the paint flows all over making interesting textures. Yupo is my preferred paper for mountains and many other landscapes. The paint stays on the top so the colors are very lush. I used a high horizon and a narrow but wide rectangle shape to. capture the magnitude of the mountains." -Pat Fortunato
