Priscilla DeVantier Bowen (1940-2015)

Bowen's work “Survivors" draws from her love of them. Survivors ranging from "weeds in the sidewalk cracks, people and other creatures who tough it out, find a way."(Bowen) The frame itself is a type of survivor, it being  damaged in a fire. The paper materials also carry this theme by being salvaged remnants and scraps. Lastly, the image itself is of "a tiny sprouts, making its way through the dirt towards the sun."(Bowen) An image that conveys resilience.
