"This installation will activate the lockers, hallway, & coat room area with mixed media and sculptural objects which provoke a sense of nostalgia and replicate recognizable grade-school items. Some lockers will be left opened and staged with sculptural school supplies and imaginative objects that might exist in an alternate reality, giving viewers a sense of peering into someone’s personal storage space. Large-scale crochet, sewn, and beaded tapestries replicating school lunch trays with common meals will also be made to be hung along the wall or even pinched between closed lockers. Other tapestries will also include: a composition notebook cover and a giant stuffed calculator. Lastly, a 3-foot tall crochet crayon and crochet pencil will be created and set next to a life-sized cardboard school desk and chair sculpture. The inclusion of bright colors, multiple mediums, and content that spark childhood nostalgia will further enhance this space and create a dream-like world for people to wander through." – Alison Cortes
