Positions of Leadership
Job Descriptions:
Each UUAB coordinator must be a leader in the organization of student activities related to entertainment and cultural affairs. A coordinator will specialize in one particular area of concern, while at the same time presses an understanding and respect for the whole of UUAB.
Duties for coordinators relate to the complete aspect of design and implementation of student activities, from formulation of ideas to public presentation. Duties in planning, scheduling, and directing programming would include (and not be limited to) organizing and maintaining a committee in work with: securing talent, performers, etc. for presentations: reserving rooms for performances; managing budget lines; obtaining publicity; overseeing distribution of publicity; training co-workers and new coordinators; writing the following year’s budget; and attending all UUAB and Sub-Board meetings.
Criteria for Selection
All students of SUNYAB are eligible for coordinating positions. Each coordinator should be partial to the overall concept of student activities, entertainment and cultural affairs for the student body. A special commitment, dedication, knowledge and skill in a particular area of programming will be necessary. Coordinators will be expected to devote the necessary time to the office to complete all duties, and perform their jobs successfully. Each position has its own time demands, however, no position has a requirement of less than ten hours per week. Applicants will be chosen for their willingness to devote their time to the program in addition to their knowledge and skill in the programming area.
Term of Appointment- June (or) September ’76 thru May (or) August ’77. Training for positions would begin immediately following announcement of appointment.
Stipend- Each coordinator is awarded a gratuity in recognition of their work on behalf of activities programming for the students of U.B. Awards are annual amounts of a fes hundred dollars divided into ten payments.
Interviews- Candidates for positions will be interviewed by a committee of UUAB personnel and members of the Board of Directors of Sub-Board I, Inc. The committee’s recommendations for appointments within UUAB must be voted upon and confirmed by the Board of Directors of Sub-Board I, Inc. Interviews will begin the week of March 22nd.
Positions Available- The coordinating position of leadership for each of UUAB’s committees is being made available at this time. The standing committees of UUAB are: coffeehouse, film, dance and drama, literary arts, music concerts, publicity, sound/technical/lighting, video, and visual arts/Gallery 219. The office also has an executive-administrative group including a business manager. The Division Director position is responsible directly to Sub-Board I. Information concerning applications for this position should be obtained in 214 Norton Hall.
