The sketch begins with a rain that falls straight down and is ascribed a musical quality - “rhythm of rain.” The use of rhythm awakens our sense of sound, of a rain with strong and weak intensity in succession. The skies begin to open up with patches of blue and eventually the sun peaks out from between the clouds. The day progresses from cloudy to partly sunny, as the sun again emerges. Trees are described as being in “alternate sunlight and shadow.”
