revive the dawn over the city – giving prominence to the blackened homes of workers with the city the secondary thing –
Walking in the dark streets before dawn – a far away whistle of a locomotive – the old mood of small town youth dreaming of the world outside – what is going on in the houses? – Five o’clock breakfasts? – a worker turns over & groans hating the approach of day – an early dog sniffs a garbage pail - *the dawn lights up the soot stained houses, the harsh iron bridges – dramatic areas of various moods & light – day, night light etc – life is hard -
