Dear Burchfield:
We went to the opening of my show yesterday afternoon, and there was a very large crowd there.
There were no audible dissenting voices that I could hear, but no doubt because they were people we had invited and sympathetic to my work.
I think the knocks will be heard today, but I shall not [be] there to hear them.
I am sorry you will not be able to see the show, but age brings a shoring up in impulse and in health.
We send best wishes to you both
Sincerely,
Edward Hopper
