66. (all too short at the latter for Bertha) - Then to hotel to check out - + bags to station, then to meet Frank at Larre's - another thoroughly enjoyable dinner - then to Normandie to see "Joan of Paris" - then to Anthony's where we had a pleasant hour at the bar talking, (CD) "Al" etc -
Then to train.[i]
May 10 - Sunday -
All but Martha (who had forgotten her jacket) to meet us at train. Good to be home again -

May 16 - Saturday -
To Zoar Valley - to check up on the Gothic House. A cold (CD) day - at times, on the way down, fog, and some rain.
Make studies all morning. Lunch at the usual place; In the space of a few moments I saw a yellow warbler, an indigo bird, and a cardinal - the three primary colors. The cardinal I had heard while making studies earlier. I called him forth by imitating his whistle. He scolded me from a rich yellow green haw-tree.
After lunch a few more studies, then gathered some stoned for the garden by the stream - later, dug up a few wild columbine - the hillside profuse with them.[iii]
