Apr. 29 -
Painting of a view between east side of house + Smedja's fence - the leaves seem to "rush" out today
Evening - To Fredonia for college Orchestra concert - A pleasant evening - the concert excellent, and of course we were proud to have M.A. + Martha in the orchestra. Afterwards met some of the instructors. Then to girl's house where we celebrate with ice-cream + cake (which Bertha had baked for the occasion.
It was pleasant in Fredonia - The trees even further advanced than at home - a full moon shining down thru the new leaves. -
On my way home - cherry orchard in full bloom, with the moonlight in it -[ii]
Apr. 30 - Thurs
Finish work on the painting started yesterday. The clean warm weather continues.
An amusing incident - As I was removing my paraphernalia, Smedja came along wearing a hat that had a piece of transparent green cellophane set in the wide brim. The sun shining thru, cast a vivid emerald green light on the upper half of his face, without thinking, I exclaimed "gosh, you look like a green-eyed monster."![iii]
