picture today. When this morning came, I realized that it is useless to make resolutions of that sort; I simply could not bring myself to touch it.
PM. To Buffalo, to bank & a little shopping and then to harbor. I was fascinated with watching the pigeons at the Elevators in the Evans ship. Then to the foot of Main St. Here it was delightful- a strong cold wind off the lake, great masses of threatening clouds, thru which at times brilliant flashes of sunlight escaped, lighting up the grass-covered humps across the channel with rich yellow green color, in fine contrast to the dark gloomy elevators. Even the names of the elevators took on a romantic flair- Great Eastern, Dakota, Gold Metal, Ontario, Monarch, etc.

At work all day in the Studio on the Elevators Picture, painting in the whole left hand portion of the sky which is the part I dreaded most. I am not sure yet but I believe with this day’s work, the sky is practically solved. Evening - throwing the basketball with Arthur - a fine exercise.

Cold, unpleasant lowery weather.
PM. B, Sally and I to Buffalo to buy Sally’s graduation dress and shoes.
May 13, 1938 (Friday)
Noon - B & I to Buffalo to shop a little. Lunch at Lorenzo’s. Later, bought presents for the children’s anniversaries - a bag
