Martin and I leave at 6:00 for home – drive by way of Avon, Geneseo,Warsaw and.E. Aurora. A day of imminent rain – beautiful effects over the countryside; Leicester with its plain open square and row of houses and trees – Home by 9:00.

Both B & I feel dull and tired – P.M. putting in onions and peas but no pleasure –
Late P.M. Bredemeir and Hekking out with frames, which please me a lot – Hekking reports a terrific time in putting up etching press, but that it worked well –

B & I both restless all day on account of Charlie K. Evening word that a cancer was discovered, too bad to operate.

A.M. to Buffalo – Look at frames at Br’s – Downtown doing shopping for various things – to lunch with Schuane – Kompf and his co-workers - S – proposes a sketching trip next Saturday.
After lunch to pet store on Genesee to buy dog. Select a cross between Irish and Fox Terriers, because of his bright mischievous face. Just as about to look at him stages a terrific battle with his female companion. Buy food supplies and home. Dog in box, I hold his snout in my hand so he won’t be frightened. –
The delight of the children beyond description. Dog christened Skippy.
Saturday, May 14, 1932–
Unable to sleep for most of the night – A day of puttering around yard – Frank builds dog house – B & Sally toBuffalo. Late afternoon make small study for new oil.
