I mean the kind of music that always goes with Oriental movies.
Stokoriski said the Symphony of Psalms was very profound. I wonder if it was. The Soriabine made me doubt his (Soriabine’s) sincerity. The last number saved the day. Moussagorsky towers above these little men like a huge giant.
Sun. Mar. 13 –
Bertha ill with cold, so I am cook and housekeeper.
P.M. N.Y. Phil. Concert a symphony each by Haydn, Franck and Mozart. Haydn may have invented the symphony, but he left it to later men to do something real with it. The Franck number sounded unusually good – I left at the end of it to go for a walk, leaving Bertha to do the honors to Mozart. To fields N.E. of us, thence straight east almost to Bowen, then inClinton St. A cold, fine day – pale cold clouds piling up. Most fields bare, but in places great
Mon. Mar. 14 –
A brilliant cold day – wind from the north – 20 degrees – snow at times.
P.M. toBuffalo– walk almost to R.R. – a day of walk.
First to federal Bldg. to pay tax – see Williams there and meet Walter Bund also. Then to State Bldg. for same reason. Then out to Baedemeier about frames. He made mistake on one frame, he had converted one of the old gold frames, and with some additional work it will look quite different. Then downtown – buy candy for children, and then 4:00bus home.
To Studio – make scrapbook for Sally with a decorated cover which pleases her, and make the other children extract promise from me to make them one, tho I had already planned to do so.
Tues. Mar. 15 –
Another day like yesterday – the finest winter weather we have had for a long time.
Working today on a painting I started back in 1921 inSalem– was able almost to finish it.
Made two more scrapbooks for children.
