rounds. When it was all over, Frances declared that she hated growing old and “knowing things” and said that everyone seemed mingled in such affairs. I told her that it was nonsense,for the good people were never talked about, which was the reason she imagined there were none.
Early in the evening, a strong wind came up. I went out in the back-yard. The sky was wild and torn. In the east the sky was strangely lit up with a white light, which was so brilliant in contrast, that it was blinding. Sidewalks became shiny under its blare. Waving trees were unusually black. Presently a pattering rain commenced and most of the evening it fell.
Taking my umbrella I started over to Bill’s meeting him coming down High Street. He was on his way downtown on an errand for his Mother and so I went along. The errand attended to we went to the Royal Theatre after which we went to Moyer’s.
