and was coming to borrow our travelling-bag. Mother and Joe were on the porch when we came up. Joe had gone for a walk and had no yet returned. Consequently they were worrying. Presently however Joe came trailing down the street.
After dinner John asked me when I was going to school. I replied that I was as yet uncertain because of Joe’s illness. He then told me he thought perhaps I would want to quit about the fifteenth and that I could feel free to do so, altho I could work as long as I pleased.
Today’s morning was one of clear skies and cooling breezes, which blew all morning. Late in the afternoon I suddenly became aware of the fact that it was unusually dark. When we got out from work, I saw that the sky was covered with dark grey clouds thru which the sun’s rays could not come.
At supper,we got to talking about a scandal about Mabel Whildy, which is going its slimy
