out we found Joe Householder, Jeanette and Pearl in a surrey. We cut up and talked awhile and then they left.
Monday Aug 18, 1913
This morning started out hotter than before; yesterday’s storms had not cleared the air, which was sultry and misty. At noon the sky darkened and thunder commenced to rumble in the western sky. I walking home at breakneck speed disliking to get in the storm I might have spared myself tho. While the breaking of the storm seemed imminent time after time, still it was very little rain we got, and that not until after I had gone back to work again. After dinner I sat out on the back porch and watched the play of lightning in the south, where the worst of the storm had swung. Rain fell intermittently all afternoon.
In the evening Joe, Frances,Fred and I went downtown (Louise had a beau) to hear the band concert. As no new pieces were played, we soon
