awards made to the three best. These “prize” counted as points for the scholarship which consisted of free tuition for the next year. I believed them and entertained high hopes of winning something. But alas what a come-down! I didn’t get a thing in that concours or any other one for that matter. This was a secret sore spot with me for many days. But as I say, my success in Design and also in Illustration made up for it in part. Brigham the design teacher, said I was the genius of the class. Keller also said my feeling for design amounted almost to genius, but deplored my lack of form. And I worked so hard in design all year that when the exhibition was made up at the end of the year, most of my work was taken.
Also I entered in most of the “Poster competitions” and while I only won one first and a few other honors, still the comment made on them encouraged me very much.
On the whole, while I regret lots of things,
