I found that a battle between the Spring and the Creek was in progress - between pure water and muddy. The creek was so swollen that it was on the same level with the Spring, which however was still as pure and clear as. The stream was ice covered water flowing underneath it and over it. In places were holes, thru which the water bubbled up like an artesian well.
The Trough and the First Pasture Field presented a pretty scene. Ice, thick loose slushy ice covered the ground everywhere, over which the many streams rushed,-clear brilliant water. At the Trough was a small deep toned waterfall, around which froth and foam were formed, which flecked the stream below. Wading thru the slush and ice I went, tho it seemed hard to go the opposite direction of the stream. The icy Frog-Pond was covered with quiet glass like water. When I got past here, I found it was hard to leave it all - the wet, watery, stream covered earth.
As the afternoon wore on I saw that we were to pay the price for the bright mornings. Mists
