of the wires musical. And yet still how remote it seemed - not part of this world, but a sound of some new unknown life. And the wind too, how it gave one an indefinable sense of spring and reawakening of all things!
The bank here had been cut away to make room for the road that runs from Post’sClover Field down thru Pinehollow, and up, up, to the head of Cabin-Beech Hollow. Down this steep declivity I plunged, digging my feet in the hard snow sidewise,to keep from falling head first onto the road. At the road, Cabin-Beech Hollow stops abruptly and the streams goes under the road, no doubt thru a pipe. The Hollow here also was full of snow and yet it has a certaininviting look that was irresistable. The road runs along the top, and so up it I strode, tho the striding nearly winded me the hill was so steep. On the righthand side of the road a steep hill shuts it in, with the woods do the same thing for it on the left. I had almost reached the top, when I heard short chirpy squeal. In the side of the hill was a large open place, As tho it had been dug out purposely. At the bottom was a confused mass of rubbage. Under the rubbish, up the hill, and back again were running three or four little chip-
