graceful looking; His eyes were set in a black band then curved from the bill downward, uniting with the black band across his whitish breast. His wings were mixed light brown and darker brown When he ran he looked very like a sandpiper. But he could not be, for thee was not a big creek near here. In flight he seemed an entirely different bird - his body was fuller and his tail dropped downward.
