to tinge a few clouds: A genuine pink is rarely seen in sunrises or sunsets. Such clear air and cool! I became dissatisfied with the view here - houses obscuring it on every side, - and so I got my hat and started far the “Three Trees” where a splendid view is given. What a change now! Day was “boiling”, but the boiling was a boiling blood. A crimson sheet seemed to spread rapidly behind the black clouds, increasing like fire. The whole sky was dappled with clouds now, those in the west, dim and melting into the sky, some of them edged with white light. Oh how can I describe the beauty of the scene? I can only say, that I stood spellbound, lost: It was a sunrise to inspire enthusiasm, and exuberance, not gentleness and dreaminess as some do; but the feeling it gave me was one of happiness. The beautiful sky, combined with a cool subtle breeze, banished all possible thought of discontent, and I went home feeling as tho I had the power to do any-thing. A little later, the sun himself came up, and “o’erflowed the world” with gold!
