Well, three days I have been working at my new job, and I may say that so far I thoroughly like it. It is nothing but plain addition, and any sums too large to be done quickly in the head, can be added by the adding machine. Crowl, Coffee, Charlie Leaf, Huber, Bonsall are in the same room, together with Mr. Bustard the head of the department.
To-day has been a wild day. Monday and Tuesday were cold sunshiny days. Last night an ominous but delicious cool dampness pervaded the air. This morning, at daybreak, saw the finish and blizzard that had swept unexpectedly from the east. I had to go down on High St. to Clarks on an errand. It was still snowing, and the roaring wind, which piled deep drifts here and there, was deliciously damp and refreshing. It was to be winter again, I thought exultantly. Alas for that thought.
