met us at the door and after we had sat around awhile, we decided to take a walk down to Mullins office to see the construction work. Morlan’s new house is a nice one and is lots better than their other one, altho the neighborhood is not as good.
It was a wonderful afternoon; all the snow was gone, the sky was a deep blue and the sunshine very warm. As we walked along, I noticed how green and fresh the grass was now. Down at Mullins, Bill wanted to climb the huge iron frame they use in constructing the building. As yet they had not used it, only the concrete foundations of the building were laid, and the iron construction frame was just yesterday completed. We climbed up to the first section which was close to the ground, but to climb the other two section would cut our shoes, so Bud and I went down to the safe earth again; however, Bill was determined to go up and climbed halfway up to the top. Bud and I asked him what kind of flowers he preferred, while Bill insisted that we owed him a dime for going up. In the meantime Bud had given me sixteen whacks but I escaped the other two for awhile. Presently Bill came down and after I had clambered all over some freight cars, we went back to our host’s house.
