a tall thick tree. All at once I disappeared from the horse. Then the dream became especially strange: I didn’t know where I was, - in fact there were two of me. of of me had disappeared and the other was looking for me. It is an odd feeling to be looking for oneself, I can tell you. Joe and I looked everywhere for me, up in the tree and all around but could not see a sign of me. Finally I went on the other side of the tree and there was a young man and woman holding me. Bill and Jim now appeared upon the scene and at the sight of us, the “kidnappers” let me go, and instantly I was one once more. The young couple started to run, and we were just throwing rocks at each other when I awoke.
Sunday April 9, 1911
Eighteen years ago a calamity befell this family - a squalling calamity - eighteen years ago, on Sunday, I was born at six o’clock in the evening. Being born on Sunday accounts for the purity of my soul. This noon I was surprised - but I’ll tell everything as they happened and see if you are as dumb as I was.
I had forgotten all about it being my birthday, when as I was eating breakfast, Mother came and kissed me nineteen times - one kiss extra to grow on! Soon after Frances and Louise
