Charles E. Burchfield (1893-1967)

1. There is going to be murder done at the office – that is, our employers seemed to be trying to “kill the job”.  When they accomplish it I am going to send my bill to the job and be chief mourner.  They have taken on three extra boy – King, Dutch Leonard and Deemer, and four new girls, who work down in the drafting-room at the same table with us.  Among them are Myra Gibbs and Kate Malley – the girl with the eyes.  To-night, the first night they have been down, was comical.  There was a great big large silence at our table, for none of us had anything to say!

Here is an item which appeared in the news to-night.  Evidently whoever put it in agreed with me about Sunday afternoon.
