To-night was the Grand Opening. Mr. Fisher and Miss McMillan stayed up until twelve o’clock last night, putting up pictures. It’s great fun to hear him tell about it, for he gets so mad. He says that he’ll hang a picture and then she’ll say “Now – now – down a little at this side – there no – up a little – well you can take that picture down – it don’t look right there”. Sometimes (as he says) he’ll move the picture in the opposite direction from what she tells him and “There – that’s all right.” He said it was the same way with every picture. I know it’s a fact that Dr. Walker’s that way, for I was an eyewitness to the scene. He was putting up the booth. She came bustling in. “That’s a little high on this end.” she said “No it isn’t - I measures it exactly” he replied. I looked all-right to me.” No it isn’t – I don’t care anything about the ruler – I’ve got a straight eye and higher on this end.” So he put a piece of wood under the “lower” end and “That’s better now.” After she had gone to dinner, he took the block out and finished the booth. But despite these trials and tribulation of Mr. Fisher, at six o’clock everything was ready for the Opening
