in bed it was with the pleasing feeling that I could sleep the next morning as long as I desired.
Saturday Nov 26.
What was my chagrin this morning when about seven o’clock Mother forced me awake and told me that Ambler wanted to speak to me! I had mown his lawn early in the fall and raked the leaves once or twice for him and I knew that that was what he wanted me for! I wished them for about the first time that we hadn’t a phone. I answered and sleepily told him that yes – I’d be glad to come out!
After I got out there, I began to feel better; a brisk cold wind was blowing and as I hustled around in order to get thru before afternoon, I acquired a keen glow of excitement that made one forget all about being sleepy. By noon however, I had not yet finished and saw that I would have to work and hour or so into the afternoon. After I finished eating Bill came over and wanted to know if I was thru, and when I said no, asked me to call up King to see if he would go hunting. We supposed that his cousins would be in Alliance by then. We felt like fools when he said that he couldn’t and then asked us to come out! Before I thought I agreed!
