“Hello” I said
"hello Burchie” Kane came deep voice “I’m home now and I’m going to stay home”
“Where were you? We looked all over town for you”
“I was out looking for Day, Smith and Kinkie to tell them to come out tonight. Is bill there?”
“Isn’t he out there?”
“No”
“he started out that way”
“Well say, come on out now”
“oh it’s too late and besides I’ve got some place-cards to make for Allen.”
“Oh. Well I’ll see you tonight. So long.”
“So long.”
A little before six-thirty Bill came over and as Joe was going out from the store, we didn’t wait, but hurried on.
“Did you go out to King’s” I asked, altho I knew the answer
“No I should say not. I just started out because I wouldn’t give in.”
