and I started up, we began afresh.
“Oh come on out Burchie” Bill cried
“Come on home. King don’t want us out there”
“Oh he does” (“Sure he does”)
“You know it’s ronyonable to call him up and ask him to go out hunting when we know he can’t go. It sounds as tho we were hinting for an invitation”
“It does not” Bill stoutly affirmed “Be a ronyon and come out.”
“Be a rump-fed and go out! But be a ronyon and come home.” I couldn’t understand why Bill was arguing thus but it became clear later.
“Well I’m going” I said determinedly start up the street and wishing that I was going out!
“Hey Burchie –- “ sounded in my ears but I kept on steadily. Bill went out Ellsworth, I presumed. As I got to the School- building, I decided to run home and telephone Kane before Bill got there. I arrived home breathless and gave the name. King’s cousin answered the phone! King was not home yet.
