We then looked around to see where we were to put our posts + wire.  On both side-lines were posts + wire already.  We finally decided that a wire was to be stretched at the North end of the field.  Zufall had not yet arrived and we fervently prayed that he would fail to appear.  Soon Day arrived, who was another victim of the foul plot.  Other fellow were arriving now; both of the two scrub teams and other high-school fellows, and all who were idle, ourselves included, cast either advice or derision at both high school toilers and scrub-players as the occasion demanded, and to our notion, the occasion often presented itself.
