being dead, decided to make another attempt. It was after supper. Coming through an alley bordering the Town hall of the east, we darted around to the front and up the stairway. When we arrived in the Mayor’s office where the dooring leading to the tower was, we found that the door was nailed shut and that no amount of pulling would open it! I thanked Bill then and there and all the others in spirit, for causing Grey to come up and rout us out. We would have been like rats in a trap.
This wouldn’t do, so we went down and up to Floding’s, where I procured a hatchet. In a few moments we were back again. But - the nails still stuck. Everyone knows that a hatchet is not made to pull nails.
