at the bottom of the next stairs slammed, the words coming to us at the same time:
     “Oh no you don’t!  Just stay up there for awhile.”
     For a moment, we stood stock still, so surprised that we could not speak.  Just as we were realizing what a night up there would be, the door opened again and a voice came up;
     What’re you fellows doing up there?”
     We came straight to the point.
     “Getting down the colors.”  was our reply.
     “Put them back again.”
     “We haven’t got them”
     “The devil you haven’t!  Come on down”
