Smith hereupon said that we could put it up on the roof of his father's store. This was received with approval and we set about doing it. Astry, Smith and I went to the back warehouse of Floding’s Store where we had put the bamboo pole for safe-keeping. Procuring it, following a long roundabout way we finally got to the rear end of Smith + Echsteins Clothing Store. Jack climbed up a telephone pole and laid the bamboo pole on the roof, after which he and I went down to Webers a got the pennant. When we returned, Smith had disappeared, and so we went around on Main St. again. There we met the other fellows, who said that Smith was in the store.
