their wrong guess gave us a chance to get away. As yet we supposed that they had no other aim and than to find out who we were and as yet our sole aim was to keep our identity from them. We rushed northeast, across Fifth St. into somebody’s backyard. Here we were halted by the fact that Bud lost his glasses. It took some time to find them, after which our pursuers had given us up. But we had not yet given up putting our banner up.
And so we continued thru somebody’s backyard to an alley. Here we paused, while I crept foreward towards School St to see if I could see anyone. I had just entered Dole’s side yard, when the “old man” came out, no doubt disturbed by the noise we made
