to the west, we quietly crawled up a fire escape and there we sat, giggling over the whole affair.  Maybe it seems strange to you that this tale has degenerated into a laughing gallery or something of the sort.  I know that laughing does not aid anyone along when there are trying to execute some plan, but this evening we were ready to laugh at anything, and soon Bud was to afford us enough amusement to give us away again and to lead us into another chain of absurd adventures.
