tered our heads as to how to put it up to stay, such as getting ladders and with pincers, fastening it to telephone wires, all of which ended in our proceeding toward the former battleground with only the tin banner in our possession. On the way we hid it under a board-pile near where we were going to put it up, a precaution against the chance that we might meet with some of the enemy who would see it in our possession and thus the cat would be out of the bag. Several weeks later, on passing there, we discovered it in the middle of the alley all battered out of shape. It being of no more value to us, we threw it over in a nearby garden, to prevent further disfigurement.
