was blowing them in my direction! Putting one foot on a spike and grasping a spike above me with one hand, I swung myself out towards the colors, reaching my free hand for them. A girl cried “O he’s going to fall”
This disconcerted me, and when the wind blew the colors temptingly near, I reached further than I should: my foot slipped and it was only by bringing my other hand around and clinging desperately with both, but I saved myself from a fall. At this much sarcastic laughter came up to my ears; and even the Seniors were becoming restless at the delay.
