year at such work. I hunted up a pole and proceeded with it to the scene of operation, giving it to one of the other fellows on my arrival. A fierce fight ensued over the pole. As we expected, all the Freshies joined in, and altho the struggle was very near the post, still there was no one actually guarding it. And so, under cover of the struggle, I sprang for the pole, while Bill boosted me up until I could put my foot on a spike, the ones at the bottom being torn off. Soon I was at the top of the pole and the colors within a yard and a half of me!
But a new difficulty presented itself. The colors were too far out on the wire, to reach and I had no pole which to draw them in. I looked below. By this time the Juniors
