a whole lot of Sophomore girls and a couple Seniors, the rest of the Seniors being at a dance that evening.
For the next half-hour or so nothing much was done. The sophomore girls would walk around in bunches in a very secretive manner and then break out into scornful laughter which was directed at the Freshies. Noone seemed to care to “start anything” just yet. The Freshies put in the time by making fun of us and asking us why we didn’t take their colors down. We did indeed make several attempts at the pole but we were sorely handicapped. We had but about nine or ten Seniors, and one Sophomore (log) and the Sophomore girls, while the enemy ap-
