8. Down steps into ravine – the mud water cataract under the bridge – the fresh coolness from falling water, the snow falling silently into it.

To road again – wind stronger and colder – exploring wooded ravines and road junction – start return – a brisk walk, a physical pleasure.

                   April 13, 1934 –

     A.M. to Ebenezer to sketch ice-formations on cliff. Too much snow falling to do much. Under bridge awhile watching the snow falling into the rapids – something mystical about their soft silent annihilation in the swift running water –

                   April 14, 1934 -

     In studio most of day, studying the “Two Hollows” picture, and the “Hermitage” – rearranging some of the racks. Strong snow-flurries & alternate sunshine. It was snowing once at 42º - A.M. play some Negro Spiritual Records.

                   April 15, 1934 –

A.M. to Ebenezer to make color sketch of ice-formationS [.] A soft warm day of misty sunlight – pleasant to be among the long willow switches by the creek’s edge.
