Listened to the “telegraph harp” today on my morning walk –
March 17, 1934 -
Snow-drops in bloom – (the March wind sweeps thru the cold bare woods, and scatters a few flurries of snow part a black pine-hollow snow drops are in bloom!).
April 9, 1934 –
Chickweed is in bloom – flower of my earliest childhood –

The Hepaticas are up-

A day of heavy rains – in studio all day, working on “hollow” picture –
April 12, 1934 –
P.M. by bus to Orchard Park. Lunch at restaurant when walk south to Chestnut Ridge park. The first walk in the country since before last Christmas. How good, how wonderfully beautiful everything seemed – the simplest things seemed remarkable, such as the appearance of a row of poplars in front of a maple. At Park westward towards pinegrove. The soft cushiony earth under my feet. The pine trees beautiful with snow – down in hollow – make a few notes tho difficult with the falling snow-
