Saturday P.M. to Buffalo Theatre to see Laughton in “Henry VIII” – in the vaudeville section some young impresario had gathered together vaudeville “headliners” of 35 and 40 years ago. Among them were Wm C. Handy, composer of “St. Louis Blues” and C. Rosamond Johnson, composer of “Under the Bamboo Tree” – There was nothing particularly impressive about either of these amicable negroes, but I got a peculiar thrill out of just looking at them because the first is an author of the most famous folk song of the 20th century, and the other, the author of
