Reactions exhibition labels for adults and youths:
Notice the color, read the text, and observe the figures. There is a sense of urgency and permeance within this piece. What do you think is happening? Adele Henderson used a famous photographic image of a nuclear bomb test in Nevada with a blood red color to convey the emotions fear and desperation for survival. This is a take on the U.S. Government’s 24-hours to-go-kit after 9/11 for people to be ready to respond in case of terrorist attack. The lurking threat of danger can make people estranged forever.
Hey Kids:
What is the main color of this artwork? Are the figures are running toward or away from something? Make a list of things that are the color red. Do any of the objects on your list remind you of the feeling you get when you look at this piece? Red is often associated with intense emotions, while blue can represent cold temperatures or sadness. This artist uses color to represent dangerous and destructive conflicts and its repercussions.
